What I wore to bed last night..

Wool socks
Flannel pajama bottoms
t-shirt
sweatshirt
Fleecy housecoat robe

AND

a hat.

Not a toque (don't happen to have one at the moment) but a running cap.

All thanks to Mr. Fever.....

Karma's a bitch

So I've been sick most of the weeked (yes, I went to a dinner party not feeling a 100% - but you can chastise me for that later...)

So Sunday night I called my mom and asked what she thought if I called in sick on Monday so I could study - something I wasn't able to do most of the weekend because I was slightly under the weather (she is my moral barometer..)

Surprisingly she told me she thought it'd be okay.

So that was the plan.

Guess what happened? I not only got sick - I got SUPER sick. So sick I even called in at 5 pm today to say I'd be sick tomorrow.

It's now 1:30 am and I'm starting to feel slightly better - but still not eating yet.

Karma's a bitch.

You've got really great hai

so I've been told...

Just got back from a dinner party, so here's my list of 3
  1. I'm thankful that I have really great hair. (Hey - Chris said so without prompting so it must be true
  2. I'm thankful for my nice teeth (Andrew thinks that so again - it must be true)
  3. I'm thankful for the balming effects of alcohol. At least tonight. Let's see how I clock in tomorrow......

Gratitude

A friend of mine has started a website called 'Bliss Notes'. If you sign up - she sends a 'Bliss Note' twice a week (I think.... at least that seems to be what she's sending...)

Anyway - its kind of like a little newletter full of good stuff. Different topics each time. I've made note of a book I should read, I copied down a saying and taped it to my computer screen which reads:
You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you
think. -A.A. Milne

and then today, I read all about saying thank you in a gratitude journal. That you need to write three things you are grateful for each day (I don't know if she keeps this on her site - but she's much more eloquent than me) So I thought, hey, what the hell:

  1. I am thankful for the company of Monster. She keeps me warm at night, she distracts me with her purring and greets me with meows every day I come home.
  2. I am thankful for Canadian music which has provided me with so much original material for my music lessons.
  3. I am thankful for my very comfy bed. It really is comfy.

Thank you

Thank you to all of you who made my birthday such a lovely day. I know I'm a little late (its been over a week!) but better late than never.

It was a really nice day filled with flowers, champagne, little packages, phone calls, well wishes, emails from afar, nice dinner with friends and a late birthday celebration that included champagne, a home-baked chocolate brownie cake and a lovely dinner out.

I know I go on about my birthday and remind people ad nauseum - but see what happens when you do? I don't need gifts or presents - that's not why I do it (though I didn't send any of them back...) but I really enjoy people saying Happy Birthday. And although a few asked if I should still be celebrating at my age - my answer is yes. It's the day I joined this world and that alone is reason to celebrate!!

It was a really nice day, so thanks.

I so have the shits...

Seriously.

I made some 'me' time today and left work a little early to go get my hair cut (working long, long days means sometimes you just have to do what you just have to do....)

Anyway - not only did I get my hair cut, but I also had to get my hair coloured (seems breaking my elbow has left me with a permanent gray patch right in my front fringe (ie. bangs if you're Canadian))

So - 4 hours later and one cut, colour - then re-colour because I had somehow become blonde (sooo not me) I have been left with a $300 bill and hair colour I hate. I have to go to work tomorrow and its very noticeable and listen to people say - "oh did you get your hair cut. looks nice (in the very patronising kind of way that means it really doesn't look nice)".

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.

I think they should give me a refund. My nice self-pampering evening has been ruined and I am now grumpy and miserable. Grumble, grumble, grumble.

But yet - I feel like its bad of me to complain.
You'd think I was Catholic with this kind of martyrdom complex...

Grumble.
